Are there UFO life forms that resemble apes?
From an evolutionary perspective the human race is the final product of nature's grand experiment with intelligent apes. Of course nature may also have experimented with intelligent apes elsewhere who may in turn now be visiting our world. As commonly occurs in ufology, away from the sensationalist pageantry and the talk of beasts and monsters vital clues to the intelligent apes reside in decades of old sighting reports.
'Para-ape' is a term originally coined by Don Worley in a paper delivered to Dr J. Allen Hynek's 1976 International conference featuring data reported from over 200 sightings of these mystery animals (FSR Vol.41/4 1996). In a number of these cases red-eyed para-apes were featured who were reportedly invulnerable to wounding with firearms, capable of moving without leaving footprints or traces and apparently vanishing at will. Worley suggested that this might be an inter-dimensional UFO-related aspect to their physical make up. He observed an important link still very relevant to mainstream ufology, the abduction reports associated with the large red-eyed para-apes. Much of the original work carried out on the alien ape hypothesis originated from Stan Gordon, a veteran UFO researcher based in Western Pennsylvania.
The age-old mystery surrounding the paranormal ape is deepened by the apparent dual existence of this technologically advanced ape-like UFO entity alongside the 'primitive man' appearance of the big foot. This article suggests that these reports originate from two entirely separate groups of unknown hairy primates. Both seem capable of evading human senses. Is there some other kind of space co-existent and sometimes overlapping our own that these creatures utilise as an ecosystem? Perhaps comparing alien-ape encounters with the more traditional big foot reports will show anecdotal differences in their behaviour and appearance.

Alien para-apes Appearance & behaviour
Bob McCurry's drawings from Western Pennsylvania 1973. FSR 20/1 1974
The Pennsylvanian para-ape drawings are quite unlike a typical Big Foot in terms of their much more prominent ears and canine facial anatomy. Like all investigations into alien physical make up, we would require substantive original investigation materials to create an adequate case history and to work up a species profile.
The most striking aspect of Don Worley's 1996 article in FSR is an abduction account where two American sport fishermen are taken up a light beam and placed in a craft piloted by the para-apes. The two witnesses were questioned on the subject of human para-ape relations by an intelligent ape while they sat in a 'captain's chair'. This action tells us these creatures may be actively assessing us, which may relay evidence of a long-term strategic and political interest in our civilisation.
Also in the Worley article there is a suggestion that a flying triangle UFO was seen in the presence of Para-apes. A caller to a London radio phone-in during 2003 appeared to describe a para-ape stranded aboard a small black flying triangle. This object appeared to be temporarily grounded in the English countryside by a heavy summer thunderstorm. The caller was clearly stunned by the creature he saw, more perhaps than seeing the grounded UFO. The following two cases describe 'technological apes' both are seen in rural Ireland.
Two historic Irish encounters with technologically advanced Para-apes.
Our first Irish para-ape case originally appeared in a book of 20THCentury reminiscences from Connemara in the West of Ireland called 'The Way It Was' by Paul Gannon (1999). This exceptional report from the late 1950's is recalled in rather a matter of fact way by the witness Marty Coneely.
Let me take you back to a lovely Spring evening about forty years ago. I was sitting on a rock beside Lough Sollagh which is situated just a few hundred yards below what is now the Alcock and Brown Memorial which stands on Errislannan Hill overlooking Mannin Bay and the Marconi bog (Near Clifden).

My reason for being on this rock was simply to keep an eye on one cow and a donkey. In those days, when water was scarce, it was the custom to drive the animals to the nearest lake for a drink and afterwards they would graze along the lakeshore where the grass was always green sweet - or so they say anyhow.
As I sat there looking out over Mannin bay and Slyne Head lighthouse in the distance, I noticed high above a very bright object in the sky. At first it looked like a pear-shaped balloon. Then, as it came closer over the coral beach at Errislannan, it started to hover in mid air and a very bright telescopic pipe-like instrument shot down from the bottom of it.
I had never seen anything like it before. There was no noise coming from it, which I thought very strange. It did not look like a plane. ''What could it be?'' I thought to myself.
There was talk of flying saucers in those days but this strange object did not look like any of the saucers we had at home and I could not imagine those things flying anyway. This was huge and so bright that I froze with fear. Should I hide behind a rock or should I run home? Perhaps they would see me and follow me or take me away.
Then I saw it speed up and begin to head my way. It was going so fast that I thought it could not stop, but there it was right over the lake, yards from where I sat. It started to hover at about a hundred feet above my head and it sent out a beam of very bright light, which blinded me. I tried to get up and run but could not see, and I seemed to be transfixed to the rock. My face and body felt warm but I was more relaxed now. Then I felt this cold breeze all over me. I opened my eyes and I could see that the animals were still grazing, but the craft was still hovering above the lake and this silver pipe was coming down from above into the water. I did not feel afraid now and went on to watch what they would do.
I seemed to know in advance what was going to happen next. I looked at the animals; they were still grazing at the water's edge, not taking any notice. Suddenly a beam of light shot down from the craft towards the donkey and his head seemed to glow with a halo of light, though I could still see the rest of him. The light was only around his head and he seemed very still. After about thirty seconds it moved towards the cow's head, which again was not visible to me but the rest of her I could see. It then disappeared back into the craft. Both animals shook themselves and resumed grazing.
I could make out three or four peculiar looking occupants of the craft. They looked like apes or gorillas, had short tails and all wore blue and green helmets and were about three feet tall. The craft itself consisted of a large, dome-shaped capsule, which appeared transparent at times as the different-coloured lights flashed on and off. It was now about a hundred feet above the lake's surface, moving very slowly with a faint humming sound.
Then suddenly a ball of light shot straight up out of the craft with great speed; they were waving at me and I waved back. Then the craft seemed to be beamed up rapidly towards the ball of light, which at this stage was very high in the sky. The two seemed to join up in a matter of seconds and disappeared into space. I then felt the donkey nudging me off the rock. They must have sent me to sleep to forget the whole thing. It was almost dark now and past time to go home. Marty Coneely.
The para-apes described in this vintage unpublicised case are three foot tall with short tails and helmets. They are much smaller than those described in the U.S. reports by Don Worley and Stan Gordon. There is sufficient evidence of missing time to suggest that an abduction encounter may have taken place. A light beam induces a state of temporary paralysis and blindness in both the witness and his animals. Is this further evidence of a widespread alien capability to use special light beams to both pacify and paralyse humans for the purpose of abduction? Perhaps in the case of domestic animals this is a precursor to animal mutilation?
The para-apes acknowledge the witness by waving just before they leave in a late act of benevolence. There are also two classic flying saucer observations. The extraction of fresh water from the lake by means of a long tube projected from the craft. The launching of a 'beacon' of energy prior to the craft accomplishing a rapid vertical lift off which then reunites the craft with the beacon. An identical case featuring this technology appears elsewhere in this issue.
The next para-ape encounter occurred in the Winter of 1976 at around 12pm in the area of Clare Castle on the Ennis to Limerick road in County Clare (now the N18 dual carriageway). The driver and passenger were in a car travelling at 50MPH on a clear starry night when both witnessed a large and frightening luminous ape-like creature

We were driving along an unlit section of the road on clear starry night when I first saw the lights of the eight-foot tall luminous figure. He appeared to be balanced on the very edge of the kerb. His large furry head seemed to project forward as he stood shoulders upright. The outline of his long thin body was spidery and hairy; it was green-grey in colour. His clothes were shabby grey fabric that hung very loose fitting; they were covered with lines of embedded lights in both the limbs and trunk.
He stood there with his hands reaching well below his knees. I noticed that each of his long upper limbs appeared to have two separate forearms on the end, almost like claws. I was extremely frightened by this, the effect of which caused me to duck down. I was quite unable to speak to the driver. The next day I missed work due to the after-effects of my shock. When I returned the driver had already spoken of the strange incident to my colleagues and revealed this sighting to be the true reason for my absence which greatly embarrassed me at the time.
What overall impression do we gain from the large alien ape entity seen in this case? The ape figure stands at the side of an isolated and unlit stretch of Irish roadside. The illuminated clothes he is wearing make him highly unusual and hence noticeable. He carries his body in an ape like manner as well as standing with his large shaggy head projected forward in the classic ape stance. He has a distinctly 'grey spidery' outline which is suggestive of a full body covering of fur. This roadside figure could well be a classic large para-ape.
What of this illuminated technology that he wears on his coarse textile clothes? These technological artefacts separate him from the more traditional 'forest big foot'. The para-ape appears to have byfid forearms in the description, possibly a false impression caused by the extensive luminous technology being worn by the entity. To conclude this article, we have the final word of a veteran Big Foot researcher, Douglas E. Trapp on the possibility of extra-terrestrial Big Foot making up some of the sightings of Big Foot. The evidence rests on there being no relationship between the two separate phenomena.
Dear FSR,
I have been involved with bipedal primate research for about 30 years, and there was a point when I investigated reports that appeared to be extraterrestrial related in that such primate forms were reported near areas where extraterrestrial craft had been witnessed. In every case I could find no relationship between the two "phenomena" other than the relative region of occurrence. These bipeds often left behind footprints, and follow-up interviews with eyewitnesses suggested that they fit the common pattern of historically reported behaviour and activity (nocturnal, shy, moved away quick, occasional screams, etc.).
Although extraterrestrial craft may have been observed in the general vicinity either the same night or several days earlier or later, there were not any reports of these bipeds being witnessed near the craft. I have read reports where people claim bipeds walked off extraterrestrial craft, or "beamed down", but bipedal footprints were not associated with these reports. My conclusion to any such relationship between extra-terrestrials and bipedal primates is that there is no relationship. Because of the lack of collaborating evidence that bipeds are related to these craft I can see no reason to support such theories.
There are groups who claim that these animals walk through time windows or other inter-dimensional plains. I believe that is a simple way to avoid further study of these animals, stating that they are not of our Earth and cannot be killed or captured is a convenient way to dismiss the animal outright. I hope that you will help set the record straight by explaining that bipedal primates are spread-out so thinly, throughout North America, and that the chance occurrence of one near an extraterrestrial craft location cannot be considered unusual. Further, these bipeds leave behind evidence for their physical existence, while extra-terrestrials normally do not.
