Strange Phenomena Investigations (SPI)

SPI News.

By: Malcolm Robinson.
Date: June 1998.

As many of you may now know, I have moved down to London and have started up a sister branch to SPI entitled, SPI ENGLAND. This will complement our main society (SPI SCOTLAND). Both societies together, will advance the information that can be generated to the public, into informing them that matters pertaining to UFOs and the Paranormal are credible and sincere subjects which demand Investigation. The following information concerns some recent activities that I have been up to during my early weeks down here in London.

MY APPEARANCE ON L.B.C. RADIO.

I n late April I appeared on the Steve Allan radio show which is based in the I.T.N. building near Russell square in London. This was a live phone in show which saw me answer numerous phone calls from members of the public. I spoke about some interesting Scottish UFO cases that have occurred over the years which included the A7O case, and also the perplexing UFO events that have occurred at Bonnybridge. Steve, of whom I was informed was very sceptical of UFOs, proved to be the perfect host and treated the subject with the respect that it deserved. This hour long show passed in next to no time, and I was informed that the phone lines were virtually ringing off their hooks as more and more people tried to get through to speak to me. An estimated phone audience of just over 2 million listened to the show which was warmly received. Having appeared many times on Scottish radio, it's nice to be featured down south. Hopefully my spot on L.B.C. proved interesting to the listeners, and that they managed to obtain some valuable information from it.

THE SUNDAY MAIL EXPOSE.

A lso in late April, the Scottish Sunday Mail ran an article with photographs concerning my departure down to England. This was gutter press at it's worse. A journalist and photographer turned up at my old address in Alloa, where they tried to interview my wife about my departure to London and my new life with an English UFOlogist. My wife did not give them an interview, but sadly a Sunday mail photographer had been hiding in a car parked further down the street, he had been taking many photographs of my wife standing at the door with a long lensed camera. One of these photographs appeared in the paper with a story which was beneath contempt. To say that I was none too happy with this story would be an understatement. It would appear that we UFOlogists are also 'hot property' when it comes to filling up pages in the major newspapers, (and I thought that it was only celebrities that got this treatment !!).

MALCOLM'S LECTURES. JUNE 1998.

E arly June saw me give two lectures, one to Roy lake's London UFO Studies Society. This was greeted warmly and I spoke about many UFO Incidents that have occurred in Scotland over the years. The only problem on the night, was the fact that the slide projector failed to work, so I was left only with a video and T.V. screen to assist me in my talk. However, the talk went well and the question and answer session afterwards, of which Judith Jaafar of BUFORA assisted, proved to be of equal interest as many varied and thought provoking questions were raised. As a point of interest, at the close of my talk, one lady who professed to be psychic, picked up Robert Taylor's trousers (the ones in which contain the rips allegedly made by two devices which came out of a UFO !), and felt very sick. She stated to me that she felt stabbing pains throughout her body, and that she had a shooting pain in her head. She immediately dropped the trousers as they were making her unwell ! For more information about Roy lake's group, (London UFO Studies), contact Roy at, 1Oa Tudor Road, Barking, Essex, England, 1G11 9RX, Tel: O181 594 4797. LUFOS also produce their own Magazine which is well worth a look.

My other lecture was to the British UFO Research Association, (BUFORA), this was at the University of Westminster in London which faces Madame Tuesuads. Again I spoke about UFO sightings over Scotland and mentioned the fact that SPI were branching out, in that we were now a National society in which comprised of SPI SCOTLAND, and SPI ENGLAND. In the audience was Nick Pope and Lynn Picknett, two prolific authors regarding books on UFOs and the paranormal. This talk was also warmly received, and it was good to see some notable British UFO researchers in the audience. I shall be giving a further talk on Saturday the 27th of June at Dundee University, Perth Road Dundee. Phone Steve Black on O1382 665 246 for further details.

REMOTE VIEWING.

L iving in London, has given me the opportunity to mix and meet with many like minded people. People who share the same enthusiasm as myself in regards to subjects pertaining to UFOs and the paranormal. In late April, I, along with Judith Jaafar and three other people, partook in a remote viewing experiment. Remote viewing is the discerning of information which includes a location of a place in which you may have never visited. These experiments are still in the early stages, and I shall update web surfers on how we get on as the weeks progress.

BOMB THREAT !

M y new partner (Judith Jaafar) and I, visited a woman who lives in Streatham in London in regards to her psychic and UFO experiences. A few days after our visit, we received a phone call from the lady who informed us that she had foreseen an explosion in which she believes would occur in a railway station. She saw a large arched domed glass structure and lots of blood and fire. She also saw in her premonitory dream, a newsstand in which nearby was a black briefcase which she suspected may contain a bomb. This lady has predicted other disasters before, all of which have come true. So what was I to do with this latest premonition ? She did say that it would transpire before the world cup began (June 1Oth). If I sat on this information and did nothing, and something did happen, then I would never have forgiven myself, and so I took the step of phoning the British Transport police, in which I spoke to an officer there and informed him who I was, and the type of work that I do. Thankfully, the officer did not think that I was a crank, and listened carefully to what I had to say. At least now, they will be forewarned should anything transpire, and it does make me feel that little bit better !!!

SPI ENGLAND.

M y move down south to London, will I'm sure, prove in the long run to be a bonus to SPI, for it is my belief, that we can strengthen our society by making it a National group with offices both in Scotland and in England. Billy Devlin is more than capable of ensuring that SPI SCOTLAND is run with efficiency and structure, and I will ensure that SPI ENGLAND, will assist and complement the Scottish branch. All in all, things look good for SPI and our web site will also be split into two sections for the two regions whereby creating a National site of UFO and paranormal information.
