I was e-mailed recently by those ever so interesting chaps at the BBC who for the umpteenth time asked me all about Bonnybridge and the best places to spot a UFO. Having said that there isn’t really any ‘best spot’ other than the moors behind Bonnybridge but that you are equally as good a chance of spotting a UFO anywhere in and around Bonnybridge. Anyway, this wasn’t an interview as such, they went on to say that they intend to place one of those ever so in your face webcam’s in the heart of UFO country. An interesting concept no doubt and the bottom line I would say is, ‘well why not’ ! The chap then e-mailed me a news sheet explaining what they hope to achieve and the following is the text of that.

BBC Online is planning to add a new dimension to it’s website, ‘So Weird’ www.bbc.co.uk/so/weird The BBC is placing a webcam on a building in Bonnybridge and pointing it at the horizon so that anyone can watch for signs of UFO activity above the town renowned for such sightings.

The webcam will be part of a site already dedicated to the exploration of all kinds of weird phenomena. ‘So Weird’ already features a ‘ghostcam’ which broadcasts pictures from inside a haunted house in South Wales to the web, as well as posting weird stories sent in by readers in ‘Weird Nation’, answering questions on strange phenomena and exploring different mysterious goings on.

The UFO-cam will be active for several hours every day, replaying a picture of the night sky above Bonnybridge to the web site every five minutes. If a visitor to the site spots something strange they can send the picture back to the BBC along with their description of what they saw. These accounts will then be collated and added to a UFO-cam gallery for future reference. In this way a pattern of UFO activity will hopefully be built up by a team of loyal visitors to the website and there will be easy access to photographic evidence of the Bonnybridge night sky. Well there we have it. We have web cams in the supermarket, web cams in the shops, web cams in the high street, web cams everywhere, I think the only place we don’t have web cams are in the public toilets, or will that be about to change as well. ! I guess we have to commend those chaps from the BBC with this adventurous experiment, for who knows, if we don’t manage to capture what could be termed a UFO, we might just capture Billy Buchanan with more of those Japanese film crews wandering around the Bonnybridge hillside !!

WORLD UFO DAY !

Yes that’s right, ‘World UFO Day’ ! There is a day for this, a day for that, and it would appear, a day for UFOs !! In an e-mail to myself and many others from Haktan Akdogan, Founder and Chairman of Sirius UFO Space Sciences Research Center, (now there’s a title), we learn that this Turkish UFO society wish all the UFO groups in the world to join with them in marking a ‘World UFO Day’. Here is what he had to say in his e-mail.

I would like to share with you a very important project, arranging together ‘world UFO Day’ each year on July 2^nd (we thought the date of the Roswell Incident would be the best date to celebrate the ‘World UFO Day’ because it is the most known and best documented incident in modern times.) We think that the celebration of such an important phenomenon at the same day in so many different countries and by the participation of millions of people worlwide will bring public and media awareness and interest to the highest level that it deserves. This will help tremendously for the people of Earth to know more and to become conscious about the ‘UFO Reality’ which is so important for the evolution of mankind and the planet.

WHAT WE MUST DO.

1. Please help to use this material, write letters, talk to colleagues, friends and relatives, send this information to your local and National Institutions or individuals who have at least some interest in treating these items seriously. Please use the various capabilities you have for informing the public in your area and country to get to know the ‘World UFO Day, July 2^nd’
2. Second step is to send this information to your local, National and International media and networks. Let’s spread this important campaign world-wide to all the T.V. stations, news companies, radio stations, newspapers, magazines, internet news portals, etc around the world.
3. Then, during the day of 2^nd July (starting this year 2001) Peaceful demonstrations and events should be held world-wide to demand world Governments tell the people of the Earth the truth !! In every country and every state and city around the globe, all the UFO organisations, researchers, scientists, UFO enthusiasts and truth seekers around the globe. We should all organise peaceful marches and events, maybe in front of official buildings in order to put on more pressure to end the UFO secrecy and cover up which has been going on for more than 50 years.

Well what can one say ? Good idea but it’s not the first time that this has been banded about. Many years ago I set out to get a Government enquiry into the UFO phenomenon. I spoke to Clackmanan M.P. Martin O Neil, who, to his credit, did try very hard to assist me in this matter, needless to say it fell on deaf ears at Whitehall. Then of course controversial Scottish Councillor Billy Buchanan and I, tried to get John Major and Tony Blair to open up a Government enquiry, that too fell flat. Dennis Canavan and the late ***** also couldn’t bothered. I am of the firm belief, nay conviction that approaching the Governments of this world by either protest, letter, or petition is a complete waste of time. The Governments of this world will never own up to what they know, and I do believe they know a lot !! Still, having said all that, God loves a trier, we never ever get anywhere if we don’t try, so in that respect I’m all for it, even although nothing will come out of it other than more interest in the UFO subject to those young and enquiring minds that want to learn more.
